"We typically do a large outdoor release party in the spring, but seeing as this year we changed things up and are doing two books, a fall and a spring, we will be having a small release party in the open space on the second floor of the Student Center [from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.]," said Kara Brockett.
Brockett, along with Ashley Nesheim, are the co-editors of Mindscapes.
"I worked with the book last year and enjoyed it immensely," Brocket said. "I became a co-editor with Ashley because I didn't feel like I had the time that would be needed to edit the publication single-handedly."
Mindscapes is composed of poetry, short stories, personal essays, photographs and drawings that SMSU students have contributed.
"[My essay] was for a class and it was just a baring of my soul. I thought, 'If I'm going to bare my soul, I should do it publicly so I submitted it," said Barbara Springer, VISTA Coordinator for the Office of Civic Engagement.
Springer contributed an essay about the thrills and embarrassments that are part of becoming a woman.
This year there will be two published. Nesheim encourages people to submit for the spring edition. No publication date for this edition is set yet.
