If you look at the calendar, apparently we are now in the spring portion of our four seasons. I guess someone forgot to inform mother nature of that small change last week. My guess is the whole daylight savings time coming a two or three weeks earlier than before probably screwed her up. Somehow it managed to snow for a little while and luckily it "warmed" back up to the mid-30's last week. Hopefully we'll see that trend continue. I sounded like a meteorologist for a second, didn't I?

Sooner or later it had to warm up. Otherwise Al Gore would have looked stupid. Now that it has warmed up, I decided I would take the time to give some hints on how to spend your sunny afternoons (after class of course, because who would skip class for a nice day?).

One suggestion for how to spend your afternoon is to simply go on a street corner (shut up perverts) or anyplace else and just stand there looking up in the sky at nothing (It helps to do it in the vicinity of buildings). If possible, have a buddy tag along with you as you stand up and look up at nothing. It's quite amusing as you'll get many people walking by that will do one of the following things: they'll walk by and look at where you're looking, stop and join you in your looking, or, my personal favorite, come up to you and ask what you're looking at. When you say nothing they'll look up anyway trying to see what is so fascinating. If you're lucky you'll attract a crowd.

Is it nice outside, but you just can't miss an exciting episode of Dr. Phil? Simple solution: get an extension cord and cable cord and just take the TV outside with you. Sure, you could just record it, but what is the fun in that?

I know what you're thinking: what if it isn't nice outside? What if it is raining? Rain makes spring that much better, and a great thing to do whether it is raining out or not, is to get a nice game of tackle/touch/flag football going on. Or just think back to your childhood. I mean, when you were kids, you used to have snowball fights, so why not adapt an old-time favorite, and have mud ball fights? If you get muddy enough, that's when you incorporate the game "hug as many people as you can" into the mix.

If all else fails you can just resort to old-school spring time activities, like playing catch. Or if you want to be lazy, just lie outside and get a tan. Get together some people and go for a walk, or get a game of basketball going at the local park. Needless to say there are numerous activities to participate in during the springtime. You just have to be willing to get up every once and awhile. If the old-school activities are overdone then just be creative. That way you'll work your mind and body.
