Not a pumpkin pie person? Why not bake the world’s most perfect sugar cookies instead?


2 ½ cups flour

¾ teaspoon baking soda

¾ teaspoon cream of tatar

¼ teaspoon salt

1 cup butter

1 cup powdered sugar

¼ cup white sugar

1 egg

½ teaspoon vanilla

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt. Set aside.

2. In a large bowl, cream together butter, powdered sugar and white sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla.

3. Gradually blend in dry ingredients.

4. Roll dough into rounded balls or cut into shapes and place onto cookie sheets.

5. Bake 7 minutes, until sides of cookies are golden. Let stand on cookie sheet three to four minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.
